Installation Instructions:

1. Handling the Gas Props: Keep in mind that all gas props CANNOT be manually compressed, so please avoid assuming they are defective if they don’t close with hand pressure. Considerable force is required to compress these props.

2. Installation Position: All gas props should be installed in the OPEN or EXTENDED position. Attempting to compress and install them in a closed state is not recommended. Always open your door to ensure the struts are fully extended before mounting.

3. Safety Precautions: It is imperative to have assistance when carrying out the installation, especially with heavier doors. Ensure another person helps hold the door open in the extended position during the removal of the old gas prop. Avoid using tools like broomsticks to prop the door open as this may lead to injury or damage if the door falls.

4. Removing Old Gas Props: To detach the old gas prop, use a small screwdriver to lift the retaining band. Pull the gas prop end away from the mount without removing the entire band; simply lift it enough to release the nylon head.

5. Installing New Gas Props: For proper installation, position the gas prop with the wider (black) body at the top and the shaft (silver) at the bottom when the door is closed. This alignment ensures that the oil stays in contact with the seal, preventing it from drying out and further ensuring optimal function. Align the nylon head of each shock with the 10mm ball mount, and there’s no need to lift the band for installation.

Important Measurements: Before placing an order, ensure you check the lengths and pressure ratings. Not all canopies and covers are compatible. The measurements should be taken from the CENTER of the ball mount on one end to the CENTER on the other end, rather than from end to end, to avoid inaccuracies. Use a measuring tape for precise measurement—specifically measure from the center of the gas prop head to the opposite side. Small size variations (1-5%) are generally acceptable.
